Hey all, I am a college student, and do not have oodles of money for spending on my truck. Its an 86 Pickup, and I want to lift it 4 inches.
Heres what I am thinking.
Front: ball joint spacers, aftermarket heavy duty torsion bars, partly cranked. Also a diff drop kit.
Rear. Add a leaf, and a 2 inch lift shackle.
My question for you all is this: Do I need a high steer kit for this?? thanks alot

you cant put a hi steer kit on ifs...go with a solid front swap it may run a little more but if u do it your self and get a cheap axle its not that much u will enjoy it in the long run...plus it lifts it about 4 inches just by doing the swap...and go with 4 in. lift leafs instead of shackles...just my 2 cents

cool thanks for the tips. I am planning on doing a swap in the long run, but I am in school right now, hence the budget lift. Once i finish school in 6 months i will easily be able to afford the SAS from all pro, even if I go all out and buy their rear lift kit as well and new rims and that jazz, but I can't wait that long. I think what i will do is just the 2-3 inch lift with springs and tbars, and maybe a 1 inch body lift

I did my SAS for $1020(gave the $20 for a complete solid front just had to pull it)...axle, hy-steer, full rebuild kit, marlin brake lines, TG shackles, metal, locker, and some bushings..for the VERY basic SAS u could do it 4 $500 if u have a torch, welder, and grinder then as you get money build off that...if u get the ifs lift though u can sell it to me when ur done to put in my blue beater yota from hell

blue beater yota from hell. Thats quite the name, I like it. I call mine Picaso's Toyota, because it is way too many trucks combined. that or the blue bomber. I will see if I can do an SAS for that cheap, that problem is I am no expert on grinding and torching ect, plus I don't have the tools. I have a few friends that may be able to help me, but if worse comes to worst, my mechanic is a pretty fair guy on prices and he can do it
