Hi all,
Got a few questions grouped in one thread regarding the Land Cruiser high pinion 3rd member:
1. What year of Land Cruiser high pinion diff would fit a 79 - 85 truck front axle?
2. Does it just fit bang on without any mods?
3. Would it also be an 8" ring and pinion and 30 splines to let me use the OEM shafts?
4. Would it be with the same 4.88 ratio as the rear?
5. And would a Lock Right locker from a normal pinion diff fit in it or would I need to buy a new locker?
6. A where does a reverse rotation diff come in?
I have a V6 3.0ltr auto 1991 Surf which I will be shortly converting to SAS
Thanks
Dave

AFAIK, 91-97 FZJ80. Should fit right on, but might need a little work if it also has an e-locker. They're 27 spline, which is what the stock Toy solid front axles use. I think 2003+ use 30 spline. It's a 10 bolt 8" ring gear. A number of ratios were available, you might get lucky and find a 4.88. Reverse rotation gears are sometimes used in the front for strength, they run on the "run" side, where as a normal set would run on the "coast" in the front. Normal gears run on the "run" side when used in the rear.
