hey, as some of you might know, I've been contemplating swapping a junkyard 22re into my truck. Has anyone done this or heard + or - things about doing this? it would be a direct swap, 22re to 22re.

Im confused by the question. Has anyone done or heard of anyone changing out a motor? Dude this is a standard practice. Im assuming your motor in blown since you dont say otherwise and im not familiar with your situation. Your motor goes you basically have three choices to get your vehicle running again. Rebuild, repair or replace. + your vehicle runs + fraction of the cost of rebuild + fraction of the cost of a crate motor - no real warranty - questionable longevity Compression test the motor before you buy it. Its also nice if you can see it run and check the oil pressure which will give you insight into the condition of the bearings. Perform any required service work to the motor while it is out and easy to work on.
Changing a motor is really an easy job. Its time consuming but for the most part its simple bullwork. If you are unsure of how things will go back together take some masking tape and mark every wire and hose as you take them off to make reassembly that much easier.

i also am in the same boat but mine is a v6 & my question is can i take a v63L outta my 95runner which is a automatic & put it in my 89runner which is a manual they both is v6's my question will the engine bolt up line up correctly or do i have to buy an adapter plate??? im confused help please?

Yes, they will swap out. That being said, you will probably have to take the engines down to the block and heads, because your wiring harnesses will be different (different plugs going to the various sensors, etc. The easiest route would be to remove everything from the engine to be replaced, lay it out in an organized fashion, set the new block in place, then re-install the rest of the original parts. Pay attention to all sensors and their connectors. If you have, for instance, an oil pressure gauge on one, and the idiot light on the other, you will have to swap the sensors out. It is a little involved, but it is not difficult. Also, be sure to check that you have a bushing in the rear of the crankshaft for the transmission pilot shaft. I don't believe the autos come with one.
