I am currently rebuilding my 22RE in my Truck. It was still runing at 230000 miles but not with the power I needed. Anyways, the engine is out and torn apart, will go to the shop today to get reworked. When I get it back I would like to add some minor stuff to get just a hair more out of it, I don't want too much though to keep it runing for another 230000 miles... I thought about a slightly more agressive cam and a different exhaust manifold.
So my question(s) are: Where is a good place to get those items? For the exhaust I would like to stay with all the emission stuff on the engine for it to pass insepection stiill and not have to mess with the whole exhaust. So a manifold that will then go into my existing stock exhaust.
Again, not looking to build a drag racer but just a bit more power for MPG's and exhaust for maybe also some lower under hood temps.
Thanks y'all!

The rebuild/machine shop you take it to should be able to get you the Cam. I'd say a stage 2.
For the header I'd go to LC Engineering
A K&N air filter (any auto parts store should have one) and an E-fan would be good too.

There's a couple more things you can do to get a little more out of it. 1.High output alternator 130 amp or bigger 2.#2 guage battery cables 3. E-fan swap(the best gain IMO)
The above are things I've done and got the best results from any of the mods I've done in the past. The increased throttle response is what has made all the difference. And back that with a good exhaust set-up(header back) and I think you'll be happy with the end result.

Thanks for the info. I think I will go with a header from LC. The engine shop is indeed getting me the cam with all the other stuff (pistons...). I will keep my stock fan though, I hardly ever go offroad (2WD) and do just normal daily driving. I was just sick of driving in the summer with the AC on into the wind and not being able to hold 70 on the HWY...
Since I am getting a new header though I might check into a new exhaust but that will mean a high flow CAT which is pricy... We'll see. I already have the K&N and the airbox mod, helped a lot.
Thanks guy's

Think about the e fan. It will help in any driving condition.

If you're looking for a few extra ponies an e-fan will help you out. They can be pricey, or you can use one from a bone yard. Here's a link for a Dual Speed e-fan from a 1995 Mercury Tracer. It's for an 88 V6 Toyota, but it can give you an idea and should be the same (or really close) for mounting and wiring.

If you are having the pistons replaced with aftermarket parts, have the block decked .010", as this is commonly taken as standard procedure, and the replacement (not oem) pistons are usually reduced by that much. If not, it will lower your compression a small amount and hurt your power and mileage.
Cam, free-flowing exhaust, and e-fan are the best starting points.
