I finally finished changing the head gasket, timing chain, oil pump and water pump on my 93 toyota 4x4 22re. To my surprise she started right up. After running the engine and driving it around the block I brought it home to change the oil and water from the cooling system. The water was dirty but I wasnt surprised about that. What surprised me is when I drained the oil more than 4 quarts oil came out. It was mixed with some water and I expected that. More oil/water drained out that I thought. Is that normal? the water level in the radiator didnt change so I dont think it is coming from there. Any thoughts?

If I remember correctly from another one of your posts, you just bought this truck and the engine was already apart.
If so then anything is possible. You should have checked and changed the oil before starting it. I'm guessing you have already changed the oil as of now. What I would suggest is to drive it a few miles and check the oil again. If it still looks like there's some water in it then change it.
Your radiator you should have flushed or you can get some Cooling System Cleaner from you local parts store. BG has good product that work great and don't harm the engine.

Deadlypeace is on the right sheet of music. Flush the cooling system and watch the oil level. Something else to consider -RE torque the head bolts - Lower the pressure on the radiator cap 13lbs is standard I would go with a 9lb cap, I would also consider using some sort of engine block sealer in the radiator,to cover up any SINS that may have occurred during the assembly process. Good luck and Iam glad to hear that you got it running again.

Ah yeah, forgot to mention re-torquing the head. A lot of head gasket these days are non re-torquing, but it's still a good idea to do after 500 miles.

Thanks for the help, you all have been very helpful during my rebuild. I am going to flush my cooling system today and didnt even think about retorques. I have to chase a service engine light, its probably my sensor.
