I have been researching en engine swap for my 1985 4Runner. Presently I have a tired 22Re and was looking at swapping in a GM 3500 I5 form a Chevrolet Colorado. There are highly reliable, aluminum alloy block and heads, DOHC inline 5-cylinder with a very flat torque curve of about 200 ft*lbs. The inline configuration would seem to fit well and be shorter than the Toyota inline 6.
Does anyone know if the block to bellhousing bolt pattern is the standard Chevy V8 pattern? If so then I think one of the Chevy V8 to Toyota adapters form Advanced Adapters/Northwest Offroad/Downey might adapt the I5 to my Toyota W56 5-speed presently behind the 22RE.

I hope the motor is from a 2wd. I know the 4200 series is also in them. The 4wd the oil pan hangs way down on the front half, I think the front diff is actually atatched to it and the shaft runs through it if I'm not mistaken.
