85 yota 22r problems

hey howzit i have a lifted 85 toyota and ever since i took it from my sister after sitting for a year half the 22r engine starts up pretty gud after i re tuned it but every time i try to turn it off it trys to keep on going it starts to sputter loudly and the only way to stop it is to pump the gas i was wondering wat is causing this

There are a number of things that can cause engine run-on (aka dieseling). GOOGLE both terms.

A possibilty they don't mention is the carb's fuel cut-off solenoid, which could also cause it.
