If, say, I bought an all-stock '87 Toyota 4x4 Truck, and I wanted 44" tires, what all would I need to do to make it run properly (Including a new engine, very powerful engine). What kinda engine would you recommend, lift kit, axle, etc.?

hmmm well i would do a ff14b in the back, dana 60 in the front, i would do a 350/350/205/203 set up for the drive train. this is a proven set up, and you get good #s from a sbc 350. that is how i would do it.

What kind of lift would you recommend with that?

Well there there are springs made for toyota that will get u there. Im planning the same setup 44's in the future. Im go with 12"chevy springs and 3"body and thats what will get the 44s to fit.

How bout a 454 to a sm465 to a NP205/203 Doubler with 2 1/2 ton High Pinion Front w6.67 gears and detroit, and 2 1/2 ton rear w6.67 gears welded, and 44 inch boggers. Thats what I run on my toyota frame. Suspension is King coil over fronts, and air bag/a-arm coiled rear. 176 to 1 low range, 400+hp, full tube and nearly unbreakable running gear. Sound's like fun to me. Project under construction!! Rgds, Dennis DEEZKNUTZ OFFROAD

Yeah, I would also definitely like some pics. Could help me with my project...if I do it. I am hoping to be able to afford it all by Summer '04. I also wouldn't mind 46" tires, either...pretty much any tires that would be huge. I want something that sits high up, and can go through about anything, and has a lot of power for towing/etc.
Thanks a lot for all the suggestions!

The only 46" tires that i know of are the Mickey Thomson "Claws" and i think the Michelin "XMLs" which are military tires. And well the new 49'' IROKS which i think are bad ass.

I was checking out the new 49" IROKS yesterday...man, those things are bad to the bone...I hope I can get them on my future truck.
I think I have decided to, in the future, get the truck we've been discussing, and also a low-rider Tacoma truck, and sell the truck I have now. I'm still going to fix up the truck I have now...but after I am done, I will consider selling it and buying the other 2 trucks, if I find any good deals. I became really interested in low-rider Tacomas today after visiting CustomTacos.com...this way, I'll have a good street truck (good gas, fast) and an off-road/winter truck with power. Sounds good to me.

I know of an '84 with 1" lift, lots of cutting, a Saturn 1.9 liter engine, dual ultimate cases, and 44" swampers. Wheels just fine and does 55 on the highway. He spent more money on the tires than the whole rest of the truck although some parts were stripped from a previous truck.

I like that...but I would get a more powerful engine. How much the thing cost total, do you know?

That's Scott form Rockstomper's truck. Last I heard it has the stock 22r and he is no longer running toyota diffs. Also to get 55 on the highway he drives with the front case in low.

The 22R was replaced a few months ago by a lighter (all aluminum), more powerful (~150hp), EFI Saturn. No, the diffs are not Toyota, I wouldn't want to see Toyota 8" diffs with 44's.
