Are there any downsides of getting hypereutectic pistons? Im looking at a reman engine with them.

The only thing I can think of is that they are more brittle, which isn't an issue unless you add a super/turbo-charger later on (forced induction generates much more heat and pressure, which leads to pre-ignition in a cylinder).

If I remember correctly, If you have a 4x4 with a knock sensor,the sensor needs to be moved.Iam not positive when using hypereutectic pistons. I know I had to when I installed racing pistons in my 22re engine

Pre-ignition will shatter them. The idea behind them is that being silicone impregnated they expand less, rocking less in the bore therefore running quieter then forged or even cast pistons. They are a decent option on a budget build with no intention of ever running boost.
