I have a '95 toyota with a 22RE. It has recently had an intermittent hesitation problem. When I take off from a stop it's like the motor is really bogged down, and will barely accelerate. I hold the gas pedal to the floor, and usually after 4 or 5 seconds the bog down stop all at once and the truck accelerates quickly. I don't know if I am describing this well, but let me know if you guys have had this issue and how to fix it. I have just replaced cap and rotor, plugs and plug wires and run fuel injector cleaner.

Interesting....
Well if this were my issue this is what i would do first. -Clean the AFM (sensor mounted on air box) They sell a CRC spray can of mass air cleaner. Follow prescribed directions on can -Check all vacuum lines for cracks, holes, and leaks. -Run some sea foam through the motor a couple times. Sometimes that will help. -Change fuel filter. They are a total PITA to get to. Its a good thing i had a body lift when i did mine and did it though the wheel well. -Pull off air duct goin into upper plenum, you may have a case of the black gooo. Behind the Throttle body venturie there is probably a large build up of carbon deposits causing an issue. I pulled my entire intake off, pulled all the sensors off if there are any and put about 3 cans of brake clean through it and then blew all the vacuum ports out with compressed air. -Check timing -Check O2 sensor and possibly replace if it has over 120k miles
This is all that i can really think of at the moment. I hope you get this figured out!

Those sound like good things to start with. I've been meaning to go through and replace all the vacuum lines. It's never been done and I'm at 170,000 miles. 02 sensor is only about a year old so I'm good there. I know how fun it is to replace the fuel filter. It's been over 50,000 miles since I did it last so its probably due.
I'll work on cleaning up those sensors you mentioned, and run some sea foam. One other thought I had, any possibility its the fuel pressure sensor?
The problem is so intermittent. Makes it a pain to figure out.

I had the same kind of problem but my 4runner only did it when it was wet. i just sprayed some electrical sealing stuff on all the conectors in the engine bay.

Check and make sure the timing is advancing.
