I have a '91 22re truck. It is losing water within 10mins. No external leaks. Pulled the ex manifold off to check for cracks in ports, but didn't find any. Did the same to intake and trottle body. Tried liquid gasket sealer. no luck there. Compression between 145-150 on all. No water in oil. Some white smoke in tail. Is there anything else I should look at before I ripp off the head? Thanks for any help.

If Im not mistaken 170psi is where your supposed to be at and a 10 psi drop in any cylinder is bad (at least thats what the book says). Any ways I helped my buddy on his '88 and you sound like your having the same problem (headgasket). Also if you have your head surfaced and checked for leaks have them run a thread chaser through all the spark plug holes and make sure your spark plugs are seated all the way. thats what caused the 88 to blow at 40k too. good luck.

You are looking for a drastic difference between them more then a spec number. That being said white smoke and loss of coolant means the head has to come off.
