i pulled out my alarm/car starter(yes it gets to -40 here so a remote starter sure is nice in january) and since it had a doorlock button i haven't had to use my key in the door for a few years. well, now it is seized and i can't turn the key to unlock the door if i lock it. any hints on getting it loose without pulling apart the whole door?

Try blasting some PB Blaster, WD-40, or other rust penetrating lubricant inside the lock and let it soak for about a day. Repeat a couple times as needed. If it doesn't work then I'd say taking the lock apart for a good cleaning or just replacing the lock.
You could also try a 50-50 mix of ATF and acetone. It's what I usually use for removing rusty bolts..

thanks for the tip. i'll try wd-40 tomorrow. i know i had some graphite spray and it never worked, but i'm kind of impatient and maybe i need to sit back and let the stuff do it's job.

I'm guessing your lock(s) are rusted or just have some other crud in them so the graphite wouldn't work. Need something to eat what ever it is out of there.
When you spray them make sure to spray towards the top and bottom of the lock, not just straight back.
Also if they do break free then spray again and work them with the key. Repeat as needed until they works smoothly again. Don't need to wait here.
