Eh, guys I have a 85 toy with a 4'' lift and I was wondering if I installed the hysteer, would it make it easier to turn while I am off roading. I also have 5.29 gears and lockers. Thanks guys.

It will make it easier for on and off road.

The stock push-pull steering on the solid axle trucks sucks to begin with. Cross-over steering will make a big difference, especially if you have >4" of suspension lift.

The steering will not wobble any more and you will gain clearance over terrain. The locker up front will make it hard to steer with it engaged anyway. Plus you need IFS steering box so to connect the drop down pitman arm. You can buy new ones from marlin or trail gear but if you buy a new one you might as well go with the hydro assit steering one for if you want bigger tires later.

Nothing compares to adding Hydro assist. Upgrading to high steer on mine was nice, Hydro was priceless! I didn't notice a big difference in the ease of steering upgrading to cross-over, but it didn't pull to one side when I was braking anymore. My arms were still dead after a day of rockcrawling with a front locker. I think it is a necessary upgrade though if you don't want to chance a steer arm failure when off roading with a lift.

Hey new to this site and trying to find some answers on the high steer myself. Have you installed it on your rig yet? After all the research I've done i have found that its they way to go for my rig as well. Just having a hard time finding the best deal. any suggestions from anyone out there would be appreciated.

I have installed somewhere in the neighborhood of 8-10 hy steer conversions and its pretty straight forward if you have a moderate amount of welding experience. All that I have installed are mane by Trail gear but bought from Low Range Off-road. One thing worth noting in my opinion is the drastic improvement in bump steer. This is due to the reduced angle from your drag link to tie rod. My truck drives better now w/out a steering stabilizer than it did stock with one. As far as easier steering both boxes have the same ratio and there is not enough difference in geometry to make a difference. Hydro is the way to go. Just bought a Red Lion cyl and getting prepped to install mine. Anyway that's my two cents.
