I've had a 86 4runner for a while, and i want to do a sas...but could i get an 85 frame and just put my 86 body on it? Any one ever do that or hear about it. same goes for an 85 pickup frame.

The 86 body would fit the 85 frame, and also the 85 shortbed truck frame after a few mount changes.
But it's as easy or easier to do the SAS.

I found an 85 pickup for 1200 that has a 350 in it. also found an 85 4runner for 800. figured i could just put my body on one of those frames and get new springs for a higher lift. ...
or get an axle, and pay for a sas kit... wondering if it would be cheaper going with an 85 frame???
also, if i did do the sas....which kit is the best/strongest...sky, marlin, downey...
thanks for the post

I can't tell you which is going to be cheaper for you.
As for whose SAS kit, Marlin, All Pro, Sky all have good reps and have been around a long while.

As far as price it will probably come out about the same. As for work it's easy to relocate the body mounts, but very time consuming swapping the cab and bed.
Between your two choices I'd go with the SAS on your 86.
As fourwd1 mentioned Marlin and All Pro all have good reps. Sky does too, but I have not used any of the springs yet. Downey I know in the past had problems with their spring wearing out too quickly, but don't know if they every resolved that.
