Im looking to do a SAS on a 93' pickup. What would be the best axles, gears to run, and who to buy the kit from? Its a DD and i put my motocross bike in the bed so i still need some practicality. whoever has done this, how much cash did you have to splurge just for the lift, axles, etc?

What all do you plan on doing with it?
For kits I'd go with Marlin or All Pro
FYI: Here's a good SAS write up in case you haven't seen it yet or like some more information about it.

just some good old midwest offroadin. Im looking into a long travel kit as well, cause it looks like id spend about the same amount either way. How would a long travel ifs lift do in the mud and crawlin?

IFS will do ok for some mild rock crawling, but will not flex close to what a solid axle will. If you only plan on doing, at the most, some mild rocking then I'd stay with the IFS system. It will give you a nicer ride on the road and will also be less modifying.
If you want to get really flexy then do a SAS. You can stick with a 84 or 85 Toyota front axle (have longer axle support) and add some 1.5" wheel spacers to match the width of your rear axle.
Forgot to mention..... For gears, it depends on what size tires you plan to go to. Here's an idea of what tires / lift / and gears go together for a manual trans. 33" - 3" lift - 4.88 gears 34" - 5" lift - 4.88 or 5.29 gears 35" - 5" lift - 5.29 gears 36+" - 5" lift - 5.29 gears
If you have an auto transmission you could go with the next gear ratio lower then mention.

i currently have a 4" trail master ifs lift, but that really doesn't do me any good other than some added clearance for tires right? My trucks suspension is blown and i think i would want to get a legitimate leaf spring lift in the rear if i put on the trail master. Would i be wasting my time with this lift?
