I have a 93 pu, just replaced engine, mounts, and trans mount. When i accelerate from down low in the rpms the whole truck will shimmy and shake like the drive shaft is bent or something. It gives a feeling like the tires are out of balance, but it happens under acceleration and when i push in the clutch to disconnect the drive line it just rolls normal. I have no idea what it could be, drive shaft doesn't look bent. Possibly a bell housing or flywheel? i just had a new clutch put in. Any feedback would be appreciated.

if it only happens when accelerating this probably isn't the cause, but something as overlooked as rotating your tires can make you shake violently. if the front tires are worn at a different pattern than the back it can be a pretty rough ride. Especially if you have a tire with big knobbies.

Did you by any chance take your drive shaft apart (at the the slip joint)?

Crap, hit enter too soon.
Because if you did, you may have not aligned the splines properly, and the front/rear joints are out-of-phase.

i found the cause, its my u joint in the rear. It needs a new spider and spider bearings. the slack in the drive shaft must be throwing the driveshaft out of balance causing a nasty shake. How hard are these to replace? from what i understand i have to take off the driveshaft

Yes, it helps to take the shaft off and put it in a vice.

If you don't have a proper tool you can get away with a very large punch and large hammer or a small ball peen and a big hammer. If you are using the hammer method then yeah, a vice is a big help.
