I currently have a flowmaster 40 series on my truck and have had it for about 5 years. I loved it, it had a nice deep sound. But over time all the welds rusted and its starting to crack...which doesn't make a nice sound.
So I want to replace it with a stainless muffler so it wont rust again. Any of you guys have one that gives a really deep sound that you would recommend? Right now I'm thinking about getting a Magnaflow.
Thanks alot
Nick

Its not stainless but my cherry bomb turbo muffler was very cheap and it sounds great. I have had it on for almost two years and no sign of rust. Even if i had to replace it every couple of years i won't care i think it was only like $35.

If you like the Flowmaster 40 get the stainless steel one.I paid $130 for mine many years ago and there is still no rust on it.I've had the cheaper version($80) as well and it rusted out in a couple of years. Also when/if you get a new drill a small hole at the bottom of one end this will help prevent it from rusting out as fast.

I have a Flowmaster 60 on both of mine. Which were originally designed for Toy 4x4 trucks, but now are designed for most 4 and 6 cylinder engines. It's got a good deep sound, but is has three chambers instead of two so it's not quite as deep as the 40.

I didn't know they made stainless Flowmasters. I Think I might try the Super 44 out. See how it sounds. As for the drill hole, I might just try that. Though, my muffler is completely black from running rich, it might clog up the hole!

I had the same thought and even after 5 years the condensation still drips through the hole.I found out about the difference with the Flowmasters by accident. My old one ripped apart and I was on my way to make a trail ride and only one part store in my area had one and it was definitely different than what I had(heavier/thicker material) and cost me about $60 more than the first one I bought.I just recently took it off to put a stock set-up back on and my boss cleaned it up and looks pretty damn good for being 5 years old and he has it on his truck now.

Thrush makes a good stainless muffler, fully welded, and cheap!

So I ended up getting the Super 44 from Flow Master. Welded it and put in up this weekend. The sound is nice. Really deep...really deep. I liked the flow master 40 series a lot, but at high rpm's it had that rice sound... The super 44 doesn't have it at all. I have a down pipe at the end too so it echo's off the ground. Gives it a lot of bass. Deep and loud. And it sound good at idle too. Nice put to it. Definitely recommend it.
