Long time no post. Anyway, has anyone ever replaced their rear pinion seal before? I took off my pinion and it looks like the only way to replace the seal is to remove and take apart the 3rd member. Thanks for the help.

I've always replaced the seal when ever I had the pinion gear out on my Toys. Haven't had to replace one yet cuz it was leaking, but I'm pretty sure you should be able to use a seal puller to pull it out without pulling the 3rd.

I've done this one a couple of times.Just drop the driveshaft, take a center punch or whatever to undo the peen(sp?) then you can remove the flange nut, remove the flange then you can remove the old seal.WARNING! be very careful when installing the new seal, you do not want to push it in too far.I f you do so you will need another seal for they cannot be pulled back out without damaging them. It's best to use a rubber mallot or a deadblow hammer to install them just keep lightly tapping around the seal as you go.
