starter going?

the last week and in particular the last couple of days when i get in to start up the beast (especially after sitting for awhile) all i get is a few clicks and eventually it starts. i think my starter is going. how long do i have before it won't start at all? do they gradually die or just go plunk one day?

There is no set way, it could be quick or drag on for a while.
It may just need new brushes, which you can do yourself.
