I currently have a spool in the rear of toyota I don't really like it at this point except for when I go wheelin. Is there a good locker I could put in the rear or should I just go open? I do have 5.29s and a Detroit quick lock in the front. Also my truck has less than 100 miles on it and I have a weird klinkin sound coming from what sounds like the rear end and I can't figure it out. I have checked the little dust covers at the pinion and the transfer, the drive line was built by a very good shop. so if anybody has had a similar problem let me what I can do. its a standard cab short box truck if that helps.. thanks ya'll

ARB
If you had a auto locker in the rear then it would make some noise, but I don't think a spool would. Could be your wheel or gear bearings, or maybe a U-joint.
Could put the rear axle on jack stands and run the truck in gear and see if you can trace it down.

Normally a spool won't cause any noises to come from the diff. Chirping tires, etc, yes. A hollow driveshaft acts as a conductor, so noise can be transmitted from one end to the other (in other words, the source may not be from where it sounds like). And is the klink constant? intermittent? under what conditions?
And the best choice for a replacement is an ARB (but they aren't cheap).

And I'm going to move this to the Gears & Lockers section, it's better suited to the thread.
