Am in the market for a new engine. Was looking at the advertisement for Japan Engines. Around $1600.00 for a "brand new" long block. Says even the block is brand new, no core required. I beleive it has the plastic guides. Wondered if anyone has purchased this engine, or dealt with this company in the past. Info. would be great. Thanks.

I am in the same boat, I also looked at arp, they claim to provide their engines to the dealerships, and they have very good prices, I hope we get some good input, I was looking for a good quality short block, I can do everything else my self, there is a lot of concern when buying or having one built for that matter,

Sorry, never delt with them. One place I've also never delt with, but have never seen anything but good comments about on any site, is Oregon Engine Builders (or Rebuilders?)

Yea, I looked at Oregon eng builders too, and only found a couple of folks that wasn't satisfied and I had to really dig for them, I live in Arkansas so there won't b any warranty work, if u no what I mean, and that is kind of scary, checked with napa and they have a longblock for 1700, and it's rebuilt, and all of the other parts houses, orielys ,autozone, they r about the same price, none of these places sells shortblocks , which of they did , it would probably cost just as much, napa has always been the better place for parts in the past, but the way things r changing, it makes u wander anymore, lots of fabricating going on nowdays, but thanks for the input, I had a guy that I knew that built my last engine, and he did an excellent job, but he's gone, so I am still looking, if anyone knows good machine shop in the Memphis area, let me know
