Anyone bought 1K kerosene for a heater lately? Is it still clear white in color? Or did they start to tint it?
I haven't in like 2 years, but just got some a few days ago. It was reddish in color but I didn't pay that any mind.
Now I tried it and it doesn't want to light even tho there's plenty of spark. Then I noticed it doesn't smell quite right. I'm thinking maybe it's farm diesel.
Didn't get it nearby, so I'm stuck with it.

That stuff is home heating oil which has the same properties as diesel fuel just lighter in color.I've put diesel fuel in the home oil tank to get me buy until the oil company could get to the house for a delivery. It will not burn in a K-heater that fuel(heating oil) needs around 16000 btu's to ignite.(I used to do oil burner service when laid off in the winter).

Thanks. I didn't think they had started tinting 1K. Now I have to figure out what to do with it.

Thanks. I didn't think they had started tinting 1K. Now I have to figure out what to do with it. It all depends on the heater type.Dump it into something. If the heater has a bleeder just bleed it out.Does this heater have a primer? If so see if you can partialy dismantle it and it should bleed out the fuel that's in the line enough to get the kerosene through.I don't have much expierience with k-heaters so I'm just going through the motions here.

It's one of those torpedo type heaters. Draing the tank is no problem. Disposing of 3-4 gallons of it is the problem.

Got any neighbors you don't like. ;D I'd say that you can take it to a local repair shop and dump it in the waste oil.We had a waste tank in the back of the work van and we'd hand pump it into a waste oil tank at the maintence shop where it was burned in the shop heater.
