i want to gear my 90 runner for crawling but not shore how lo to go. lots of toyota owners run 5.29 is this where i should be? or should i go lower ? ive hit truck heave, t.d.s , silverwood want to start going to big bear and some day the rubican trail i run 33 by 12.5

What gear ratio depends on your tire size and transmission. Typically for 33's you'd go with 4.88 for a manual and 5.29 for an auto. If you want to do some serious crawling look into a dual t-case set up.

Another thing you want to think about is if you plan to going to a larger tire size some time soon. If that's the case then you might want to jump to the next lower gear. 34's - 4.88 or 5.29 (5.29 for auto trans) 35-36's - 5.29 (5.71 for auto trans)
