Ok so I have 2 86 runners one is my rig/ daily driver. The other is my backup. My backup is the one giving me problems. It's bone stock. It idles like a champ! Starts right up and idles fine. The problem is when you put it in gear and try to go down the road. This is the slowest truck ever my rig stomps it and it's on 38's with no gears! I mean no acceleration what so ever. It tops out at 45mph or so. Here's the rundown. I rebuilt the motor, and had slow acceleration but not this bad. New Timing Chain, Timing is dead on 5 degrees with T and E1 shorted. Messed with the TPS a few times, no leaks in intake. New plugs, and wires. 150 psi on all 4 cylinders. I mean I feel like I've checked everything! It ran good for a few days a couple months back. I could chirp the 31's when I shifted into 2nd going down the road. Then I got stuck in the mud and revved it up and it started running like crap again. I'm debating whether to part ways with this thing or not but I know it's something small and stupid I'm just overlooking it, anybody have any ideas?

Did you check to see if the timing advances? A bad igniter will also cause poor performance. Did you check to see if there any codes stored in the computer? A restriction in the exhaust system will cause poor acceleration. You may also want to check vacuum with a gauge.

Timing is dead on. No codes that's what's got me! No exhaust restrictions I already pulled the muffler and swapped for glass pack. Check vacuum with vacuum gauge?

Timing may be dead on,but does the timing advance during acceleration? The engine should have between 18 - 22 inches of vacuum at idle,if it is less, this will indicate a vacuum leak some where.
