I just got a 91 toyota pickup with a 2.4, started to tear down the engine, found split crank. What are the options for swapping engines? im looking for somthing that will still be able to run up and down the road and not cost an arm and a leg? and somthing that is rather cheap to swap...

There are many options out there. A new adapter or a used one, plus a used engine, v6 -v8 whatever you decide, plus labor yours, or outside labor. - Versus fixing the 22r engine - The best way would be to fix what you have. As long as the head and block are good,a used crankshaft plus having the engine line bored, is probably the direction to take. The finished product or the end result plus the down time is something to consider. Fixing the engine is going to provide you years of service, and you know what you have, plus the satisfaction and pride of doing the work. Price out both ways,I think you may find the cheapest(And not cost a arm and a leg) is fixing what you have, unless you purchased the vehicle with the intent of swapping engines.

One other thought if you go ahead with the engine swap. If you live in a state that has and enforces emission laws, you MAY have problems getting the vehicle to pass.

i know in the past I looked at doing a 7mge swap, you could pick up a supra pretty cheap for those years, as a minimum you would need the engine the bell housing wiring harness and ecu if I remember correctly, but you also need to be able to weld
