I am looking at doing an engine swap from a 22RE to a 4.3L Chevy engine. I was planning on getting the advance adapters kit to continue to run my original Toyota transmission and t-cases. I was wondering if anyone has done this swap that could give me an opinion on it. I was wondering if running a Chevy V6 on a toyota 56W transmission causes any problems.

The W56 trans might handle the 4.3 if you take it easy. I can't recall if AA has the proper adapters, but I'd go with an auto like the TH-350 or 700R4 if they do.

Im doing the same thing and I spoke with a AA rep and he told me for just everyday driving it was a easy swap to do but if it was going to be seeing alot of trail use that he would put a 350 or 400 turbo or a 700r4 tranny to do the swap with.Im putting a 4.3 on propane in a 95 runner and it is going to see alot of trail time so im going with the 700r4 so I can go with low gears and still ill have the overdrive for when im driving on the road.just my 2 cents worth.

Thanks for the info. I do plan on making my truck a trail truck. So there is not since spending that kind of money on something that will break.
