So i got an 86 pickup, that was my first truck i ever drove. i poured 5k into it over the years and got tired of spending money so i parked it and got a new/used chevy. while i had it parked i started on the SAS project. i cut the front end off, and got it to bare frame. was saving money to buy a kit then lost my job (god bless the economy). in the mean i moved to Nor-Cal and left the truck behind w/o a front end.
Now i want to get the truck out here and start over on the project. My question to you guys is what do you guys think the best way would be for me to move the truck from nevada to nor cal. i dont have a flatbed trailer or a car dolly. but either can be easy to get. what would be the best way to get the truck onto the trailer w/o the frontend.
now ive had some ideas but im bored and thought some other roughnecks would have some handy ideas to pitch in.
thanks guys.

The best solution would be (wheels or casters) so you can load and move the truck around when you reach the destination. The wheels should swivel so it moves around easy. Some ideas - large casters used on scaffolding - A trailer jack with a wheel ,an old motor cycle fork and wheel, you do not even need a tire on it, What you do is get a long piece of pipe attach it to the frame with U bolts -(used on trailer axles) Do the same thing with the wheels, attach them with U bolts to the pipe. If you want to keep the overhead down, remove the front bumper, and bolt (ONE) wheel in the center. (NOTE) - Before you cut the pipe measure the distance between the trailer or car dolly. The best way would be a trailer. If you use one wheel load the truck front end first ( pull it up on one ramp either side) center it at the top.pull it the rest of the way onto the trailer. You could also use a tow bar. Attach the tow bar to the front end of the truck.jack the truck up in the center with a floor jack and lower the tongue onto the trailer ball.

One last thought - If you use a tow bar,you can bolt a trailer jack onto the tow bar for easy removal for any reason along the way.
