Is the LC Engineering motor any good, I was looking to get more power out of my truck old, abused 22re. Should I buy a new one from LC, or just rebuild the whole thing?

If you can afford it, the LCE motors are nice. If you know of a competent local shop, you could always rebuild with performance in mind. Bore it over, performance head and mild cam, etc.

The problem with LCE motors is that they don't really stand behind them on the warranty. I've dealt with a half dozen or so customers that had bad issues with them as well as a few that are very happy with theirs. They do have good components. My belief from the issues I've dealt with are with assembly NOT the parts themselves. My suggestion would be to get some upgraded components crank, cams, throttle body etc. Then do like fourwd1 suggested by having a local shop do the marching and assembly. This way if a problem does come up it can be handled face to face.

Well PCK, I can tell you that I deal with LC here locally and did in fact recently purchase a 22r motor from them. Now the motor I bought was a new deal they have with ATK engines. I purchased the one up from stock deal they have. It has a light cam and some minor valve work. Nothing high performance but a little better than stock. I have about 4000 miles on it and it runs sooooo nice. Have a Weber on it and all "unnecessary" parts stripped off. I have been very pleased with LC and the help they give me. You can call them up and pick their brains and they have always had time for my questions. I know that most of their engines are performance engines and race as well. I don't know what kind of warranty a person can expect to get on that type of engine in regards to what the other member was saying. I can tell you that in the Toyota racing circuit, LC is known from coast to coast. I can also tell you that they have some locals here that have put 150,000+ miles on bored and stroked 22r's built by LC and I think thats pretty good. Hope this helps!
