New to the toyota world and looking for something fun to work on and work with here in Colorado.
Just curious if anyone has some words of guidance on whether or not to purchase a 1988 V6 3.0 4x4. . . Found one on Craigslist with 218,000 on it for $2400.00.
Anything to look out for in particular with this year? Thanks!
And of course other suggestions as to what models and years to keep an eye out for would be helpful.

The first thing you ask the owner is when was the head gasket done last.If this wasn't done recently either talk the price down if your willing to do the work or walk away. This happens to be the biggest issue with the 3.0 v-6.If this has been done recently it's a NON issue.Other than that check the frame for rust. The main areas to check is the fuel tank section then the leaf spring hanger areas. Also pay attention to the front frame rails where the upper control arms are.
