front and rear diff swap

Has anybody ever swapped the front diff assembly to the rear and vise versa. I have searched the board to no avail. I have checked the web and according to the sites and material I have read it should work. If anyone could give any input on this it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Oh the truck is an 81 4x4. 22r and 5 speed.

Yes, on the solid front axle trucks (79-85) the front and rear diffs are identical and fully interchangeable.
Of course you need to have the same ratio front and rear.
