Just recently lost my childhood home to a fire, and my dads 99 Tacoma was in the front yard the valve covers, plastic bumper, headlights, condenser, and wiring melted however the rest of the truck is in tact. My question/questions are what would be a good carbed engine to drop in,what type of solid axle swap (GEARS) would be a good setup to go with/transmission/transfercase? I'm wanting to run 44s and just run a leaf spring setup all the way around.

The first question to ask is what you plan on doing with it, or what it will be used for. There are many options for a power plan, but here are a few common ones.- 3.4 Toyota
- 3.8 Chevy
- 231 Buick
- Any small block 350ish motor
Tranny will depend on engine and if you want an auto or manual.
For axles if you plan on running 44's then you'll want to go with some like a D44 front and a D60 rear. Other options could be a D70, GM 12 or 14 bolt, or a Ford 9"
Gears will depend on what you can get for the axles, but probably something in the 5:1 ratio.
