Well I blew a head gasket in my 93 22re got it all fixed and cleaned up now I have something tapping sounds like it coming out the bottom. I just changed the timing chaine and guide pistons looked good when i had it apart. I am thinking it might be the rod bearings and pointers on what name brand I should use to replace them with i am also changing the main bearings. I am just getting working and building on my yota so i would be thankful for any pionters you might could give me.

I am sorry you went through the work of replacing the head gasket & chain set and then finding out the engine has a bearing issue. I guess as far as name brand, its kind of a individual preference, some mechanics swear by this brand or that brand, and you re budget plays a big role especially if you are married, how many miles per year etc Are you planning on removing the engine or are you going to drop the drawers, and slide the transmission back to accesses the crank shaft? ? By the book the engine should be removed, cooked and clean out the oil passages etc. Whatever you decide, the crankshaft should go to a machine shop. IF you are going to install the crankshaft yourself, the journals should be plastic gaged,to insure the proper bearing clearance. A new oil pump would be a good investment.
