long time follower and this place is a gold mine so i have rarely needed to post. but, i have a hopefully simple question. im currently underway in replacing the timing chain, cover, water pump, etc yada yada in order to put the bit beefier head and cam from engnbldr. And i thought i might address something ive noticed for a long time. my hood bops up and down at highway speeds and i believe its due to 1) whatever sort of expanding foam/silicone goops at the various spots between the hoods sheetmetal and hood framestructure and 2) i remember in another truck i had having some insulation snapped up in there which this truck does not. conclusion: what is the crap they squirted in between there and is the fact that i have no hood insulation the cause of its demise?
thank you much

I would leave the foam in place. The hood needs to flex ( but not like a fish out of water) I would use a FLEXIBLE URETHANE FOAM. If possible apply the foam ahead and behind the existing foam. Do not pry on the sheet metal. The bottom line when you are done ,you do not want a friendly hood that waves at everyone. The foam can be applied to painted surfaces.

There are 2 adjustable rubber stops the hood rests against when closed. They get hard and shrink over time, so adjusting them upwards a bit may solve the problem.
