hey everyone went out the other day to move the runner and it wont start chacked the date on the batt and it was from 07. I replaced that along ith new terminalls and cleaned up the neg terminal that bolts to the cab, wont start replaced the starter and altinater because when it was running last the charge light and brake light would flicker on and off. Still wont start, when i tutn the key the starter will just spin, or it makes a sparking sound like you have a loose or coroded batt terminal but i smell something burning when i put my head in the engine compartment after turning the key a few times. it is a 4cyl 22re and the clutch switch has been bypassed if anyone has any idea to what else it may be your imput would be greatly appreciated  |

You just replaced a lot of parts, so there's a lot of possibilities.
Maybe if you check out those parts while someone esle is turning the key, you may be able to locate the problem.

well come to find out i had 2 bad grounds. the sparking sound was a spring holding tention from the e brake lever to the frame. that got really hot when i was trying to start the the truck because it was arcing out so it made me believe that somethin wasn't grounded properly. the ground from the firewall to the back of the motor was frayed and disconnected and the ground wire from the the ignition coil was broken. I fixed those grounds and beefed them up it started just fine. thanks again

Glad you got it fixed. Bad grounds can be a pita to track down.
