4Y / '88 Toyota 4WD Van Mods?

I just purchased an '88 4WD Toyota van. Great base vehicle for running into the Rockies to explore. Lifted and ready for basic camping. However, the van can only maintain about 45mph on some stretches of the interstate hills going into the mountains. Can anyone help with suggestions for modifying the engine for more power? The van has the little used 4Y- E engine.

I had to look that one up, I'm not familiar with the 4Y
It never came in trucks or 4Runners or Land Cruisers.



I don't know of anything for it.
