To match the lift of ball joint spacers and torsion bars cranked, would it be better to add a inch block in the rear or add longer shackles? I didnt wanna go with the chevy springs as they seemed a little too long compared to what my truck would be lifted. Correct me if I am wrong.

Well your lift is not enough to really put the rear diff. in a binde, so I wouldnt use shackles...You said that you dont really wheel that hard, so I'd go with 1 or 1.5 in blocks to even it out..Its faster than add a leafs and you'll keep the factory ride in the rear too..If you wanna go a lil beefier, then use shackles..

Well just curious, but what do you mean beefier? I am not looking for an even lift as I wanted a lil sag in the rear mainly because this is also my daily driver. It seems the stock leafs are very straight so I was wondering if the block would have a bad effect on the suspension almost like "u"ing it in the wrong direction if that makes sense. Thanks for the response jamride.

Either blocks or shackles would be fine. If you go blocks don't get the cast ones, some people that have had them crack and/or break on them.
"Beefier"- Stronger

LOL..yea, Beefier means stronger...But yea that makes sense to me..If you want the rear to sag a lil thats the best way to go..Adding a leaf spring would work, but may pick it up to far..You dont know till after you've installed the add a leaf..=O)

Ya true, well where might I be able to get a non-cast inch block? Also, would I just need one inch longer u-bolts over stock for a one inch block?
Rather than buying shackles, I remember someone used thick pieces of metal and drilled holes and used certain hardware to create their custom shackles. Anyone know any measurements they used for the thickness of the metal and what hardware they used? Thanks.

blocks dont progress sag in springs any more than the spring would sitting on the spring perch... add a leafs can cause premature wear and ride stiff, and toyota shackles are harder to make than like a chevy shackle, because toyotas shackles are wider on one end and narrower on the other

True that....Remember those add a leafs on my taco colosus?? They rode like shit..And it kinda hard to line the center pin up as well after busting the leaf pack apart..Go with the blocks..It'll take 30 min. per side if that..

Ya I will do that and if I want more lift in the rear I can easily add on later. Well where might I be able to get noncast one inch blocks? Thanks a lot.

Ok thanks, I found some from pro comp that are billet blocks that are 1 inch and 1.5" blocks, but would they be considered the same size blocks as say chevys or fords? thanks.

seems to me that these might not work because they are too wide. Cant recall the width of the toy spring.

.....toyotas shackles are wider on one end and narrower on the other This is only true with the shackles on the front leaf springs and he has a IFS front end.Ok thanks, I found some from pro comp that are billet blocks that are 1 inch and 1.5" blocks, but would they be considered the same size blocks as say chevys or fords? thanks. As long as they are 2.5" wide they should be fine. Also when getting new u-bolts make sure to get the right size cuz Toyota axles are narrower then Chevy, Ford, etc. I believe they are 3" dia. toyota and chevy have same width spring perches. 2.5 inches. ive interchanged blocks from my blazer to my tacoma I believe that to be correct, that the perches are the same size (2.5") just the springs on on Chevy are wider.

Not trying to step on any toes.......
I'm not too sure about the Tacos, but even if they do have that kind of shackle in the rear, he has a 4runner.

what does him having a 4 runner have to do with the shackles...lol Because the shackles that you are talking about are only on the front leaf springs on the early era of my truck
