I am using the All Pro springs although I could have gone a cheaper route. There were a few things I could have spent less on but spent more time figuring out. One of those were the springs. I got the 5" lift springs. They might end up being too tall but we will work it out. How is your swap going so far. Are you using a toyota axle and all pro SAS kit?

Hey snorkleman, Is the toyota driveshaft gonna bolt up to the ford? Or are u having a custom one make or what?

The driveshafts are both going to be modified. We are going to lengthen them and we have to weld the right flanges to fit the axles. Not a big deal. I have the flanges from the front and rear axle so now we just get them attached to the driveshaft. I'll get this done after the lift is finished so we can measure how much length we have to add.

Who are you going to have balance your drive shafts. When I did my v-8 conversion on my s-10 that is the only think I didnt do myself. just wondering. I know some rednecks (no offense to anyone) ha ha that just weld longer pipe in and go with it. THis one kid I know took a s-10 4X4 body and put it on a ful size blazer chassis. It didnt sound to bad until he told my he put on a 12" body lift that he welded in place. I kind of shook my head then. He flipped the truck on its side and the bed fell of.LOL

The driveshafts I will have done by a guy in the area. His name is Dave..hence the name of his shop is Dave's driveshaft. He is good and cheap. I think we are gonna weld on an extension, maybe use a longer one from a cherokee...ah heck I dont know yet. That happens on monday when we know how long we need it to be. The snorkle...ahh there is a good story. One of my first four wheelin adventures was through a mud hole that blew my engine. Broke two rods and put ahole in the block. SO I got an engine and put a snorkle on it so it would never happen again. Since then I have had it back in water over the front of the hood a couple times. The snorkle works good. The muddy water however works good on ruining my bearings so I try to stay out of the deep stuff unless it is a flowing creek with low mud and just your normal water crossing. I thought about naming my truck toy-tanic after the unfortunate sinking, but ended up wanting to forget about it. I ended up just naming myself snorkleman. Stupid name but it works.

Depending on which toyota axle your talking about. Your probably talking about a 84-85 pickup front axle or even the stock rear of yours. If your not using it for serious duty I've seen toyota axles with 44's. If however your going to use it off road, your going to need something stronger. Or buy stock in a birfield company..cause your gonna be breakin a bunch. I wouldnt even put 44's on my dana 44. I think the tallest I would run is 37's. 44's are hella big and cause a whole lot of stress on everything if its not prepared for em. But if its mainly for street then you could get away with 44's on smaller axles. My $.02
My dana 44 came out of a 78-80 K5 blazer. I would guess. I don't know for sure as I just found the axle. But everything I get parts for is a K5 blazer. The 5 bolt 44 is off a 78 big bronco. So depending on what part I need, i use those two vehicles. Both front and rear brake setups are completely the same. So I don't have to worry about finding the right part for my brakes. The only thing that is a little different is I am using some brake hose off a chevy bel aire for the rear right out of the caliper. All the fittings are basic metric fittings so we are just matching different hoses for what will work for the truck.

Scott from Rockstomper tried out the 44's on toy axle's for a while. He ran stock gears and drove around in 4 lo on the street. Did'nt hold up too well at all and he ended up upgrading axles.

Tonight we start cuttin the IFS off. I went and had the tires mounted and balanced on the 5 lug rims. Last night my friend stayed up and made the u-bolt plates and some perches and such to save us time. I'll get more pics tonight and post em probably tomorrow. ;D

Its not for hardcore use. More like go to beach and play in the dunes a lil(cause ur not supposted too ;D). What if i were to upgrade the birfields to marfields or longfields (i think there called). An i ofcourse plan to regear. BTW is it possible to put like a NP205/203 on a auto toyota transmission???

Gotcha. Not to sure about the NP205/203 setup.
Well tonight we got the truck all tore apart. The IFS is sitting on a crate and the rear axle is sitting on the ground. Everything was cleaned up and we made our measurments for the front setup. Tomorrow we work on the front axle setup. I do have one minor problem. The rear axle is leaking oil on one side. Not a big deal but will need to replace the seal. Everything went great tonight and I actually getting into bed before 2am this time.... Gonna post some pics in a minute... ;D

Plasma cutters are nice arn't they. They make quick work of cutting steel. A lot neater than a torch.

Alright here is a quick side pic of what we have done so far. Today we finish the rear, work on brakes, driveline, finish steering, and any other small stuff. So far so good. This pic is with the front axle tacked on and the rear being mounted to the springs. The front won't ride that high. It is still on the lift in the pic. The srings will also settle. We are hoping that it isn't too high but very stable and flexes like crazy... ;D

i have a 79 dodge adventure pickup 360 v8, 3spd auto towing, used to have a fifth wheel trailer in back, but now just a 8ft bed, extended cab, its 2wd, underneath is a dana 80 full floater, how strong is this rear axle, and would it be to big for a swap on a toyota truck. and if its to big, how much would it be worth to sell?

Sorry man don't know much about that axle. I know dana 60's are incredibly strong and would work under a toy. There are some pics of early toys with 60's on page one of this thread. Here is a pic of my truck yesterday night when i drove it out of the shop... Tomorrow we finish up the rear driveline, brakes, and shocks. Also need to lift the rear up some more.
