yes it is. very solid, gear driven. but in stock form it don't have a very good low range setting... the lo maxx just came out for it, not to long ago, but i am not going to shuck out that much coin for it.. we'll see what the future holds.

Well the tranny i am gonna use has a very low first gear anyways. So that is no huge deal for me. I am not going to be rock crawling or anything, i would rather just have something super strong and worry about gear ratios later on. I don't know how much luck i am gonna have finding a nice dana 300 transfer case though. I can't afford a new or rebuilt one, so just looking for a nice used one that i can change the seals or maybe some bearings in if it needs it. Really getting anxious to start doing this swap though, almost waiting for my break to be over with so i can:S, that is kinda sad, lol

no the buick 3.8/4.1 is different from the chevy 4.3, both can be built up to be good torque motors.. but imho the buick would be easier to fit in and it's lighter. only real downsides to the buick is that if you want fuel injection you'll have to add it via stand onlone or source junkyard parts from the chevy 4.3 or even the fwd 3.8s they tend to run a little hotter but just put in a cooler thermo and make sure you have a good rad.. advantage of the 4.3 is that is comes with fi from the get go and it has better stock flowing heads..downside is that the distributor is on the wrong end and the damn v6 weighs just as much as some small blocks..

well i found a dana 300 transfer case for the engine swap, wow that is one hell or a bullet proof case. It small and simple, the way they should be, all gear driven, no chains. very pleased with it and it hangs on the proper right right hand/passenger side. Now i just have to get the little adapter to mate it to the Ford ZF 5 speed tranny and i have the whole drive train ready to put in. Does anyone know how this vacuum differential disconnect actually works?? is the accuator in the toyota transfer case itself?? or how does it work exactly. Cause i am gonna get manual hubs anyways, but i would still like to keep the VDD if i can even though i am changing the transfer case as well. Anyone know??

As far as the bes canidate for an engine swap. That is up to u and how envolved u want to get, and of course ur how deep ur pockets are. I am in south georgia bigger tires and more motor is what i like, personally. I put a 565 bbc in my 94 ext cab yota, and it is pushing over 780 hp on pump gas. I had to run dana 60s front and rear c6 tranny and an altas II transfer case. But knock on wood I havent had any thing break on me yet. It turns the 40" swampers with no problem. I have put of lot of time, blood, sweat, and tears into my toyota. But it was all worth it in the long run. It was a little easier for me cause I did all the work in my own shop. Just remember with the right tools and skills the sky is the limit. I went all out on my yota but it was worth it. It took my about 3 years to complete. I am still able to drive it on the street. I drive it around town, to the trails where ever i want to go. In all in all. Dont just settle with what you can get by with, save up money and do it right the first time. It pays off in the long run. Plus its alot of fun to have a mustang or camaro or even a corvette pull up next to you and blow its doors off.

sounds like quite the ride, you have any pictures of this beast of yours? I don't think i have ever seen a big block in the frail rails of a toyota. Ya i know i am getting realy anxious to work on mine now. Almost have all the parts, still have to get an adapter for the tranny to transfer case, but that is pretty much it.

Well just thought i would update everyone on my toyota 5.0l swap. I used the ZF f250 transmission and a dana 300 transfercase. So far everything sits in fairly well. There isn't much room for the rad though so i will have to find very thing electric fans, but other then that things are going fairly smoothly, Money is the biggest thing right now that i am trying to deal with, cause this project isn't cheap at all lol. I have lots of pictures of what i have done so far so email me if you want to see any. The next pain in the ass thing is gonna be headers that fit though. V8YOTA i was wondering what you did for your headers??
